Candle Care

To get the best performance from your candle please read the following guidelines that will ensure your candle will burn cleaner and safer, and last longer.

Burn for 3-4 hours
  • This helps the candle to achieve a full melt pool  on the first burn and prevents tunneling (where the candle burns only at the centre)
  • Burning for more than 4 hours can cause the candle to get too hot

Trim the wick
  • All of our candles come pre-trimmed and ready for use
  • By trimming the wick to 5mm each time you can prevent the flame from becoming to large, which causes sooting and uses more wax, reducing the total burn time
  • Nail clippers can be used in place of dedicated wick trimmers
  • To trim the wick measure 5mm from the top of the candle
  • If the flame becomes too large during a burn, blow it out and trim 1mm off the wick
  • If the flame is still too large then repeat, trimming only a little off at any time

Keep it clean
  • Always replace lid after use to prevent dust and debris from settling in the candle
  • Any particles that settle on the candle are not only a fire hazard but can also clog up the wick, preventing the candle from burning well
  • If your candle doesn’t have a lid, keep it in a box and check for dust prior to burning
  • Candles can be gently wiped clean with a cloth

Store in a cool, shaded place
  • Store your candle out of direct sunlight and away from heat to prevent melting
  • Keep away from window sills and radiators

Candle Safety

Candles are by their very nature, inherently dangerous. It is therefore essential that whilst using candles you take some simple precautions to prevent an accident. Whilst we test our products extensively for both performance and safety, there is still a risk of an accident if precautions are not taken.

  • Never leave a lit candle unattended
  • Keep out of reach of children
  • Do not burn for more than 4 hours (or however long dictated by the label)
  • Keep the candle free of debris
  • Keep the wick trimmed, trim the wick if the flame is too large (5cm/2inches or more)
  • Always ensure the candle is well away from flammable items
